About Toro

NFC (Near-Field Communication) is to become a milestone in the way users interact with their mobile phones, as well as for B2C, C2C communication and digital services.

Telecom, payment systems, transportation systems, advertisers, etc. are aware of the potential of the technology and are starting to reshape their businesses in order to try to be central in a new type of payment habits.

In this context, TORO’s mission is two-fold:

1) Offer expertise to the future main actors of the NFC related business when it comes to implementing NFC based solutions and services.

2) Offer to end-users a secure and user-friendly “NFC Wallet”, so as to help people manage their NFC applications and enjoy innovative mobile services.

TORO is the first company in Asia fully dedicated to develop mobile software and services around Near Field Communication (NFC) technology. TORO have chosen Taiwan as the starting point because when it comes to adopting the NFC technology, Taiwan is in a unique situation. The NFC ecosystem in Taiwan is very close to being complete for a massive service deployment. This is neither the case in other countries of Asia, nor in the United States or Europe.

TORO’s software, akami suite is a mobile wallet platform which allows merchants, banks, and MNOs to build their NFC business case; its widget system allows the wallet issuer and end-users to add and remove services easily. The whole platform is managed through a back-office server, which also generates real-time user reports.

akami suite was finalist at the GSMA Asia Mobile Congress for the Mobile Innovation Awards 2007. TORO is also the official organizer for MobileMonday Taipei chapter. MobileMonday is a global community for mobile industry. There are over 50 chapters in all the major cities in the world.
